Anywhere But Here

We could be sailing the seven seas,
Driving our way across the country,
Visiting countless museums for free,
Or even crawling on our hands and knees

Digging up ancient artifacts.
We could be surfing through the sky,
Trying to soar impossibly high.
Anything besides learning these dry facts.

The teacher's voice drones on and on,
Talking endlessly about this and that.
All I really want to do is chat
With you, but instead I'm trying not to yawn

As we sit, like zombies, in this class
That is dragging on forever.
Staring at the teacher with eyes glazed over,
We hope for time to quickly pass.

Will this dreary lecture never end?
Let's try to sneak out the back door,
Commando-style, crawling on the floor.
We just have to get around that bend!

At last we have reached freedom,
And now we are able to do
Everything that we wanted to!
What?!! You just want to go home?!!
