Bedroom Descriptions

My Bedroom

When I was five, my bedroom had various posters on the wall. There was a Bert & Ernie one (I loved Sesame Street), an E.T. poster, and a Cinderalla poster. Newspaper clippings my mother liked were taped to the wall along with my posters. Also displayed on the walls were various projects I had done in kindergarten, like my name spelled out in pasta and decorated with glitter on red construction paper and my hand and footprints in green paint on another piece of construction paper. My bed, which I loved after having been stuck sleeping in the crib for years, was covered with mismatched sheets with patterns ranging from sunflowers to stripes. Worn stuffed animals were scattered around as well as a toy doctor's kit and a mini chalkboard. In the corner of the room was a red basket overflowing with books my mom and I had checked out from the library. There were the obligatory children's picture books as well as books for older children that I was starting to read like Sweet Valley Twins and The Babysitters Club.

Molly's Bedroom

Molly's bedroom had a pink canopy bed that made her feel like a princess. She would frequently use it to act like Sleeping Beauty or various other princessy characters. Her walls had posters of Disney movies. Stuffed animals were strewn everywhere, many of them in some sort of costume. In one corner of the room was a huge white teddy bear holding a red heart that her stepfather had won for her at a fair. In another corner was a record player, and Molly frequently enjoyed singing along and pretending to be on stage. Her mother had given her a toy microphone to aid in the illusion. Against one wall was a bookcase filled with various books. Molly's mother was trying to get her to read more but wasn't having much success yet. Molly did enjoy being read to before she went to sleep, though, especially when both her parents read together and used different voices for each character.
