Time in Flight

As I sit in my boring class,
Watching the clock hands go forward,
I thought about Einstein's theory,
The one of relativity,
And how a two-hour long lecture
Feels a lot like being tortured
For a millennia or two.

Other students throw erasers
To make the clock hands jump ahead.
Five, ten, fifteen minutes go by.
Suddenly the clock is dislodged
And plummets toward the tile floor.
Well, I guess that cliché is true.
Time really does fly--for a bit.
