Laying in each others arms wraped tightly around each other the two reunited old friends seemingly in two different worlds of dreams and fantasies slept silently as the events of the past few days had been very tiring and emotionally stressful.
Floating high above the earth below only now littered with a few stray lights from the homes across the countryside the baloon drifted alonng the gentle wind currents of the evening as the late night midnight blue sky was sparkling with the millions of stars and a cresect shaped moon in the eastward sky.
The soft glow of the moonlight spotlighting the two people as if under a stage spotlight. Shifting his weight slightly as he awoke, James half opened his eyes as the adjusted to the darkness that had crept upon them as they slept peacefully.
His face was as bright as the north star as he sighed very softly not evenaudible to himself..only his chest rising and falling being the only indication there has ever been anything esaping his lips. Jessie layed there with her arm across her bare midriff and fingers grasping her side as if she was holding herself in her own arms.
Slowly James pulled his arm that was now asleep and tingling from being under Jessie's weight for so long but smiled to her barely moving form as he shook the feeling out of his arm back to normal his fingers traced along Jessie's crimson red hair feeling the soft starnds between his gloved hand.
He moved closer to her as she slept; one knee on the basket floor and his other foot standing up as he layed a hand across his propped up knee and studied the calmness of Jessie's face just as he had one so many nights before ever since they had been paired together in Team Rocket.
His eyes darted back and forth quickly as he debated whether he dared to touch her soft skin..just once. Closing his eyes for a moment he tried to imagine the possible scenarios in his mind...first imagining that she would awaken with a smile to him and confess her love for him..and laughed silently to himself knowing that was just plain foolish and stupid..his mind drifted to Jessie slapping him roughly as usual and him being knocked onto his back and in pain..and even more heartbroken than before.
He reached out his hand shaking slightly and just then Jessie's lips parted to form a yawn James stumbled backwards against the opposite side of the basket of the balloon he was now looking at Jessie head on and had his legs stretched out in front of him with a warm and happy expression across his face that was brighter than any star out in the sky that night.
Raising her arms above her head Jessie arched her back slightly awakening from her wondeful dreams of her and James and as she opened her eyes and looked upwards she saw the fuel and fire of the balloon sighed silently as she thought to herself.."..only a dream...again...".
Slowly she lowered her head and emotionless looked to James and smirked slightly to his daydreaming expression.
"James! Snap out of it! It's already nightfall and we have no idea where we are or where those brats and Pikachu are headed!!", screamed Jessie not really upset at him at all..just trying to cover her feelings.
"Hmmm? Oh..uh..yeah..you're right Jessie..I was just..um..thinking..about how nothing we have done so far has been successful..maybe we're approaching this Pikachu problem the wrong way",spoke James with confidence as he closed his eyes and crossed his arms across his chest as a grin came across his face.
"Instead of trying to steal Pikachu all the time..why don't we invest our time training and capturing our pokémon and open up our own Gym..if those kids can do it..so can we..and by doing this we'll show them all that Team Rocket will always be number one and after a few months of extensive training and work..we'll be strong enough and powerful enough to defeat those brats and take Pikachu with no problem at all!", spoke James as he raised his head to meet Jessie's face..her expression one of shock as she blinked a few times as she stood up quickly grabbing James by his black undershirt and to his feet and and laughed loudly as she hugged him.
"James!!! That's brilliant!!! I can't believe you never thought of that before!!...but..wait a minute.. how are WE going to get the kind of money to open up our own gym??? UGH!!! I knew there had to be some kind of flaw with this!", screamed Jessie as she pushed James back a money clip fell out of his shirt and next to her foot. Crossing her arms in anger and frustration Jessie tapped her foot and as she did so the sole of her boot tapped on soemthing other than the floor of the basket as she looked down curiously.
"Hmmm? What's this?",asked Jessie to herself as she kneeled down taking a closer look and gasped in shock. "Ahh!!! James!!! Where on earth did you get this money??? There must be..", "One million dollars", grinned James as she brushed himself off and brought himself to his feet cutting Jessie off mid sentence. Still in shock Jessie just held the money in the palm of her gloved hand as James quickly snatched it back and placed it tightly into a pocket inside his shirt for safe keeping.
"Where..and..how did you get that kind of money?? I thought your parents wouldn't give you the inheritance because you refused to marry Jessiebell...I don't understand", asked Jessie as she scratched her head in confusion and locked her eyes with James.
"Well..they refused to give me the inheritance.. but they wouldn't allow me to leave without at least soemthing..I guess you could call them a bit over protective", laughed James.
"And now we have more than enough to open our own gym and follow through with our plan..if this works out the way I think it will..we will have Pikachu by the end of the year and before Ash even gets a chance to battle in the Pokémon League..without Pikachu on his side..he has nothing.."
"And if WE have Pikachu we're sure to come out on top..we can't lose!",interrupted Jessie.
"Right", nodded James in agreement. James turned his back to Jessie as he sprawled his arms out the side of the balloon looking down and out to the ground below allowing the soft breeze flow through his fine disheveled purple hair as Jessie looked on secretly dying to run her hand through his soft hair and across his warm cheeks and took a step forward timidly but just as she did James turned around to face her once more. Losing her balance she tripped over her own feet and landed with a thud against the back of the basket,
James tilted his head to her in curiousity and a bit confused as there was no wind turbulence in the air tonight. "Uh..Jessie..are you okay?", asked James. Jessie quickly nodded as she hopped up to her feet quickly.
"Oh yes I'm fine..I just..um..lost my balance as I..uh..was looking to the sun peeking out from the clouds behind you." James half turned and smiled as the dawn was about to break and spotted just the quarter circle of the sun rising gently between two sheer white clouds. Jessie walked next to James and placed her left hand on her hip and the other on the side of the basket gripping it tightly in her grasp.
"Another day...", started Jessie, "But like no other..today is the beginning of the end for Ash, Brock, Misty and Pikachu!", laughed Jessie and James as he pulled on the cord of the balloon forcing it to slowly descend down into a dense forest of oak trees while in a seperate part of the forest Ash, Brock, Misty and Pikachu unaware of Team Rocket's plans sleep peacefully engrossed in their dreams of their own.
